Beware of feeding dogs chocolate -- it can kill them...

If your pooch has a sweet tooth, don't give it chocolate - animal researchers say that even a small amount can be lethal to dogs. Baking chocolate is cited as the most dangerous delicacy, with only one ounce considered life-threatening to dogs.

A one-pound bag of chocolate-coated candy can also be deadly. A dog's reaction to chocolate ranges from vomiting and diarrhea to seizures and death, with symptoms sometimes taking several hours to appear.

Cats are also endangered by eating chocolate, but veterinarians consider felines to be less at risk since they tend to be more discriminating eaters.
